The ‘tukde tukde’ of my heart

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, and the Bhakts had been going hammer and tongs about saving India from the ‘tukde tukde gang’ before they were struck a legal jibe.

Suddenly, silence became their refuge and they just let the Home Ministry do the talking. The ministry, while replying to an RTI filed by an activist and lawyer Saket Gokhale, merely said that it had no information concerning the 'tukde-tukde gang'.

However, the opinions haven’t stopped since with political leaders, activists, and scribes on both ends of the spectrum voicing their opinions.

Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor tweeted, “The tukde-tukde gang does exist. They are running the Government and dividing the nation,” while Kapil Sibal, also of Congress, said, “I think the home minister knows more about the tukde-tukde gang than we do... the country knows who is dividing India”.

“Anyone who has closely observed the events of the last two years knows that democracy has been eroded and democratic institutions have been debilitated those who are in power are the real ‘tukde tukde’ gang,’ tweeted former Union Minister P Chidambaram.

To which Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan hit back saying, “Chidambaram recently came back from jail on charges of theft... the country knows what kind of work was done in Chidambaram's time. People like P Chidambaram, who went to jail after ‘Chindi Chori’ (petty theft) will always have trouble with people who are following the rules and regulations.”

Even as you delve into this war of words, or should I say ‘keywords’ with hashtags and metatext included…. Let me pay homage to India’s secular fabric or my heart that is truly ‘tukde tukde’.
